Top Ten Tuesday 1/8/12

Top Ten Bookish Goals For 2013

  1. Read 105 books in 2013. I made it to 100 in 2012, and it was pretty close, so I'm not going much higher this year but it'll still be a challenge.
  2. Write More Reviews. I usually don't post more than one review a week, even though I read enough to have two per week.
  3. Write More Discussion Posts. This past year I've been writing about one discussion post a month, and I really like the feedback I get on them.
  4. Get Out There. This year I will be hitting my second blogoversary, and even though I now far from  being a newbie, I don't exactly feel like I've gotten myself 'out there' yet.
  5. Get a Personalized Blog Design & URL. I've been telling myself I'm going to do both of these things for quite a long time, but it never happens.
  6. Go to a Conference. This is still in the works but I'll let you know if/when I'm going!
  7. Get Over My Fear of Book Requesting. I don't request review books much, and when I do I request ebooks mostly, but it is FREAKING SCARY people.
  8. Schedule More. Scheduling saves lives, but I don't do it enough and I really, really should.
  9. Come Up With a Reading Schedule. This is probably why it can take me up to a week to read a book. I don't give myself a deadline.
  10. Meet People. Hi. I'm Erika, what's your name?

  1. I STILL get worried about requesting books! I really need to get over it, but... it's terrifying! *headdesk*

Haha, hi Erika, I'm Amber *waves*

Good luck with your goals :D

  2. Requesting books IS freaking scary! I've only gotten up the nerve to request two, but both requests were declined. One rejection letter really annoyed me, because you could tell it was a standard form letter and they hadn't even looked at my blog. :(

I'm working on my scheduling as well, because it really does take some of the pressure off!

Hi Erika! I'm Terri! Nice to meet you! :)

  3. #10: Hi Erika I'm Christina! :D I figured it was time to introduce myself since I read your blog a lot! :) I really need to set up a reading schedule too, specifically for my DAC books.

  4. I just request books via Edelweiss and Netgalley, so I don't find that to be too terribly scary. I would also love to go to a conference. Which one are you thinking about attending?

  6. I want to go to ALA ANNUAL SO BAD YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW. It's all my book blogging buddies are going and... I don't think I can. ='( The dates are just sucky! I will have to work on my parents though, so we'll see... But I love how you have a goal of scheduling, because that's something I want to do more as well. I have issues with procrastination, and I'm trying to stop that, and I like to think I'm beginning to. :D I already have this entire week scheduled and all but two posts for next week, so definitely not bad. I'm pretty proud. =) So, since I, the laziest person ever, can schedule posts, YOU CAN TOO!

Good luck with these lovely goals, Erika! <3

  9. I think the easiest way for me to request books is by stating in the email that I was interested in what their reviewer requirements were, and stating my current stats, the times I was rejected it was politely and they told me what I needed to do before contacting them again. :) hope that helps! Congrats on going strong on your blog!
