ALA Annual 2013 Recap

This weekend was my first time attending any sort of major book event, and I was lucky enough to get to go to ALA Annual in Chicago. Going to a convention like this was just a dream of mine since I started blogging two years ago. I loved hearing everyone's stories, and just learning about what there is to do there and then I was finally able to get to go to one.

Emily (Left), me, Erika (Middle), and Willa (Right)

I got to meet all kinds of awesome people who, before, had just been names, or pictures, or a friendly vlogger and then all of a sudden they were real people in front of me shaking my hand, or waving, or hugging me. I got to meet Willa and Emily and I hung out with those tow lovely ladies quite a lot, and then I met very briefly Katie, Baily, and Sasha.

I went to four signings, which I think is more than the number of signings I have gone to in my entire life. I loved getting a change to see so many authors in such a small amount of time. I also had the chance to just randomly run into a author when we were eating lunch which was very exciting to say the least.

I did a little networking. I gave my card to two different publishers and then a few other bloggers and people I ran into who were interested.

Of course, I got several books that I am quite excited for. I loved getting a chance to go around and read the backs of books and to hear about new books, as well as get a couple I already was excited about in the first place.

Is there any other kind of post you would like me to do from ALA, or do you have any questions? I don't know if I will do a full out haul, but if you would like I might do a top 10 or so most excited for? Let me know in the comments.

I also want to let you know that I've been hearing that Google Reader is going away...So I have added a button on the side bar if you would like to follow me on Bloglovin. Thanks!

Erika

  1. It seems like you had a fun (and busy) experience! I'm glad you got the chance to meet internet people in real life. I haven't gotten to do that yet, but I imagine it's a really exciting and awesome (and weird) feeling!
Enjoy all your new books! I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of them. :)
